Dr. Mide Adeleye and Bria Jackson alumnae of Northern Illinois University. The friendship blossomed when they became roommates, and eventually, sorority sisters.
They had similar goals to pursue careers in allied health and share a passion for increasing the number of minorities within healthcare. Mide is working towards becoming an Emergency Medicine Doctor, and Bria, a Physical Therapist. One day they realized a common interest in writing a childrenβs book to inspire young kids of color to see themselves in their respected professions. They felt that the vision was worth working on & sharing together - thus, creating βWhen I See Youβ a visual representation to teach & remind children of color that they can be just like them one day.

This book started out as a passion project for us as two best friends in the medical field. We wanted to educate about our careers while encouraging young Black girls, like ourselves, to see themselves in the fields they want to be in! To all the Black women out there, when we look at you, we see ourselves. Donβt ever let anyone tell you there isnβt space. There is space because we create the space.

βWhen I see you is a phenomenal book! It will help prepare children for their first ER visit and expose them to multiple career paths! It also shows them early that if they are ever in pain there is a doctor that will help them or if someone they know needs help they can call 9-1-1. The bonus for little black girls is the Doctor and physical therapist look like them!!β
